Project Highlights

Design

For Posh Pennies, our goal was to transform a beloved home décor blog into a modern, fast, and effortlessly stylish experience that reflects Vivien’s evolved brand and growing audience.

The new design captures her minimalist yet cozy aesthetic, prioritizing white space, timeless typography, and editorial-style layouts that highlight her beautiful imagery and DIY guides.

We also paid close attention to speed optimization—a key issue with the previous site. Vivien had struggled with slow load times, and this redesign dramatically improved her Core Web Vitals and overall performance, creating a seamless browsing experience for readers.

Theme / Framework

We migrated Vivien’s site from the Genesis Framework to Kadence Theme, leveraging Kadence Pro features like element hooks and custom templates to modernize her blog structure.

This shift not only improved site speed but also made it easier to manage content without custom code dependencies. Now, Vivien can quickly update posts, tweak design elements, and add new sections with full creative control—no developer required.

About Posh Pennies

Founded by Vivien, Posh Pennies is a UK-based home décor blog that helps readers decorate their homes beautifully—without overspending. Her content blends practical design advice, budget DIY projects, and styling inspiration that feels attainable yet polished.

Through her site and YouTube channel, Vivien has cultivated a dedicated following that loves her balance of thrift, taste, and charm. This redesign gave her brand a new professional identity that matches the authority she’s built as both a blogger and a content creator.

Initial Challenges

Before the redesign, Vivien’s website had served her well but was showing its age. She said:

“I had been mulling over a redesign for well over a year but just didn’t have the time or energy to commit to it. Site speed was becoming a real problem, and I’d outgrown the old look.”

Her main challenges included:

  • A site that looked dated and didn’t reflect her current brand identity.
  • Poor page load times and outdated Genesis theme structure.
  • Intimidation about moving to a new framework.
  • Fear that a redesign would take too much time and disrupt her workflow.

Switching to Kadence with guided support made the process not only achievable—but enjoyable.

Deciding To Hire DIY Dream Site

Vivien discovered Katy through a Facebook group where other bloggers highly recommended her work.

“People spoke very highly of her, so I decided to have a call. She seemed to understand what I wanted, and I liked her professional, cheerful, and helpful personality… and of course, a good price never hurts! I’m so happy I chose Katy!”

What Vivien Loves Most About The New Site

“Omg everything! I love how easily Katy and I worked together to get the look I wanted.”

She especially appreciates the clean, elegant design and how much easier it is to manage her site. The redesign gave her confidence that Posh Pennies now truly represents her growth as a blogger and YouTuber:

“Before, my website looked amateurish and not super professional. Now I feel like it reflects who I’ve become and presents a better overall picture of my business.”

Collaboration & Workflow

A big part of this project’s success was our asynchronous workflow using Basecamp. Vivien shared:

“Using Basecamp to track the project and share notes, screenshots, and tasks was simply awesome. I loved that we didn’t have to have several lengthy calls—it made it so much easier to manage while juggling other things.”

This system allowed her to stay focused on her content creation while trusting that the redesign was moving forward efficiently.

What Surprised Her Most

“Her organizational skills! Not many people are that organized, honestly. I really appreciate that attention to detail.”

Vivien was surprised by how smooth the process was and how much structure Katy provided—from timelines to communication to visual previews.

The Transformation

While it’s still early to measure long-term analytics, Vivien feels immediate improvements in usability and confidence:

“It’s too soon to tell, but I’m hoping for more returning visitors since the website feels a lot more user friendly now.”

She’s proud to share her site again and excited to focus on growing her audience with a brand that finally feels like her.

Value of the Experience

“Priceless. Would 1000% rehire Katy and would recommend.”

Vivien’s advice to others:

“Just have a call with her. Talk through what’s important to you. I personally felt like after our consultation, she understood exactly what I wanted. That gave me the confidence to pull the trigger—and I’m so happy I did.”

Stop envying their site. Get one you love.
